On my days off from the salon I can often be found hanging out with my dogs, Ariel & Dash. Dash & I compete in conformation shows, rally obedience trails and occasionally sporting scent detection. This past weekend we competed at a United Kennel Club show in Tonawanda NY in conformation and rally obedience. Dash finished his Level One Rally title earning scores of 95, 98 and 100 out of 100 in his three trials. In the conformation ring, although we did not win in the first 3 shows, we did well in the last show. Dash was awarded Best of Breed. We then went on to Herding Group competition where Dash won a First place. Then we were in for the coveted Best In Show, Dash beat out 7 other wonderful dogs that day to win Best In Show.
It was a fun weekend, hanging out with my dog show friends and my dog. I encourage you to get involved in doing something more with your dog. All dogs are happiest with a job to do and our best days are spent training and competing. If you are interested in classes please ask me for suggestions. Whether it is formal obedience for competition, Agility for competition or fun or trick classes I can refer you to the right trainer for you aspirations. Every moment you spend training and working alongside your dog will give you such a great reward and build a stronger bond.
